Prototype Fixtures
PTM is a one-stop shop for all types of fixtures. Our design concept makes engineering changes easier and more cost effective than traditional fixture designs. This approach saves time during the fixture build process to improve timing to our customers.
PTM welding/CMM fixtures are robust and shimmable (adjustable) to meet all your assembly needs. Due to their many re-usable details, our fixtures are proven to work well into the future.
At PTM, we use our fixtures for our own stamping, assembly, and inspection purposes.
3MM Attribute Check Fixture
The fixtures are cut to a 3mm gap to check the shape of the part/assembly. The trim and holes will be cut flush or scribed into the fixture surface. There are locator pins, net pads and clamps as defined by the GD&T. Any other critical holes as defined by the GDT or assembly process will have a bushing and check pin.
There will be a GO/NO handle pin to check to the part to the 3mm surface and any holes that are required by the GD&T. All this mounted to an aluminum base with all the proper identification and storage space for all pins.
A checking fixture is a quality assurance tool used in industries to check for the quality of components with complex shapes. They aren't used in making components but to accept or reject already made components according to the dimensional accuracy.
CMM/Scan Fixture
This fixture will hold the part/assembly in vehicle position with pins, nets, and clamps as dictated by the GD&T. Some include special details that are used to check part features like an attribute fixture. The fixture will have enough clearance built in to allow the CMM machine and/or scanner access to all areas of the part/assembly.
Prototype Assembly Fixture
This fixture will hold the parts for assembly with pins, nets, and clamps as dictated by the GD&T and assembly plan. It will include special details to hold areas of the assembly that are critical, for example if the certain distance is needed between two parts to achieve the next level of assembly.
All the details are designed to be shimmable in 3 directions to allow for adjustability during the assembly process. These are designed with the weld types and locations in mind to be as user friendly to the user while achieving the best result.
Gauges - COMING SOON
Inspection gauges are commonly employed to avoid costly and lengthy process of testing the component dimensions. These gauges are basically used for checking the size, shape and relative positions of various parts. These are of fixed type measuring devices and are classified as standard and limit.
Standard gauges are made to the nominal size of the part to be tested and have the measuring member equal in size to the mean permissible dimension of the part to be checked.
Limit gauges or “go” and “no go” gauges are made to the limit sizes of the job to be measured. Sides or ends of the gauge are made corresponding to maximum and minimum permissible size of the job for its acceptance or rejection. The objective of limit gauges is to identify whether the actual dimensions of the work are within or outside the specified limits of acceptance. The double end kind of limit gauge has the GO portion at one end and the NO GO portion at the other end. GO portion must pass into or over an acceptable piece but the NO GO portion should not pass. Inspection gauges may be classified as working, inspection, and reference or master gauges.
The working and inspection gauges are generally employed for inspection of component from stage to stage.
